In its purest form, it is yogurt-and-spice-marinated chicken dressed in a velvety red bath comprising butter, onions, ginger and tomatoes scented with garam masala, cumin and turmeric, with a cinnamon tang. Butter chicken originated in a Delhi restaurant when the chef was looking for a way to serve unsold tandoori chicken from the night before.

  1. Take 300 gms Boneless chicken
  2. Prepare 3 large tomatoes ripe

The chicken is incredibly tender and injected with flavour from a yogurt marinade, and the Butter Chicken sauce is so ridiculously delicious, you'll want it on tap! Butter Chicken is an easy recipe that's full of savory flavor with warm spices. This mild curry has tender chunks of chicken simmered in a creamy spiced curry sauce. It's quick to make with chicken, tomato sauce, cream, and handful of pantry spices.

Steps to make Butter Chicken:

  1. Take the boneless chicken and cut them to small cubes as shown in image
  2. Now fry the chicken cubes till golden brown in a pan
  3. Now cut all the tomatoes onions and mix all whole Spices
  4. Put little Vegetable oil in the pan and put all the things together and cook for around 5 mins, add little salt red chilli powder and a hint of turmeric, add little water also
  5. Now once the tomatoes and all others looks cooked partially let it cool and then grind them to make puree
  6. Now take 2 cubed if butter in a pan and add the puree, add little Salt, little sugar and 2 more cubes of butter, you can add cream at this point if you want to
  7. Now add the sauted chicken to the puree
  8. Cover and cook for around 5/10 mins and then the Butter chicken is ready

WHY IS IT CALLED BUTTER CHICKEN. Created by Kundan Lal Gujral, you may notice that Butter Chicken (known as murgh makhani — chicken with butter), is similar to British tikka masala. Prepared in a buttery gravy with the addition of cream gives the curry sauce a silky smooth rich texture. It's simplified and cooked all in one pan and goes great with a side of rice or naan!
