Butter chicken originated in a Delhi restaurant when the chef was looking for a way to serve unsold tandoori chicken from the night before. He created a mild tomato curry spiced with cinnamon. Butter chicken is a great, ever-evolving, cross-continental dish found in Delhi, London, New York, Perth and most points in between.

The ingredients needed to make Butter chicken:

  1. Make ready 500 gms chicken(boneless)
  2. Make ready 3/4 tsp lemon juice
  3. Get 1 tsp salt

  6. Prepare 1 tsp turmeric
  7. Make ready 1/2 tsp garam masala powder

  10. Prepare 1 cinnamon stick
  11. Take 2 cloves
  12. Make ready 2 green cardamons
  13. Prepare 1-2 green chillies slit
  14. Prepare 4 large tomatoes pureed and filtered to remove seeds and skin
  15. Prepare 14 cashew nuts blanched
  16. Take 1/4 tsp sugar
  17. Get 80 ml chilled cream
  18. Take as needed Salt

The chicken is incredibly tender and injected with flavour from a yogurt marinade, and the Butter Chicken sauce is so ridiculously delicious, you'll want it on tap! Butter Chicken is an easy recipe that's full of savory flavor with warm spices. This mild curry has tender chunks of chicken simmered in a creamy spiced curry sauce. It's quick to make with chicken, tomato sauce, cream, and handful of pantry spices.

Steps to make Butter chicken:

  1. Marinade chicken with lemon juice, chillie powder and salt for 20 minutes.
  2. Marinade again with yogurt, kasuri methi, oil, turmeric, ginger garlic paste and garam masala powder. Refrigerate for 3 hours.
  3. Add cashew in a blender jar along with tomatoes and make smooth puree. Strain puree if not too smooth.
  4. Heat 1tsp butter in a pan and add marinated chicken. Fry on high flame till moisture evaporates.
  5. Heat a pan with butter and saute cinnamon, cloves and cardamons for a minute. Add ginger garlic paste green chilles and fry for few minutes. Pour in tomato cashew puree. Mix and cook till the paste becomes thick.
  6. Pour 1 cup water. Bring mix to boil and simmer for 5 minutes.
  7. Add chicken and simmer for about 5 minutes. Add garam masala and kasuri methi and simmer for 2 minutes.
  8. Serve garnished with coriander and some cream. Can be served with rice or paratha.
