Railway Mutton Curry was a dish developed during the British Raj by the Indian Railways cooks. Transfer this mixture into the slow cooker and then add the lamb chunks to the frying pan. Add the lamb stock, tinned tomatoes, coconut cream and tomato puree to the slow cooker. Place the lamb or mutton in a large bowl, season with salt and pepper, Stir in the spices.

  1. Dry roast the spices (cumin, coriander, peppercorn, red chilli, cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg) and mix well with yoghurt, ginger paste and turmeric to make a paste and apply to mutton and keep refrigerated for 12hrs.
  2. Fry the potatoes separately and keep aside, similarly fry the onions with green chilis and garlic till it turns brown.
  3. Pour the mutton mix over the same pan with the gravy and potatoes and sauteed for few minutes.
  4. Transfer the contents to slow-cooker and turn it high for 2hrs flipping in between and serve hot with steamed rice.

Add the meat to the base of the slow cooker with the remaining ingredients. Indian Lamb Masala, Mutton Masala, Indian Lamb Curry, Masala Lamb, Indian Mutton Ingredients and substitutes.
