The ingredients needed to make Tabbouleh:

  1. Take 3 bunch parsley
  2. Make ready 1/2 cup fine bulgur
  3. Prepare 3 roma tomatoes, diced
  4. Prepare 6 green onions, thinly sliced including green stems
  5. Get 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
  6. Get 1 each juice of 3 -4 lemons
  7. Make ready 1 handful fresh mint, finely sliced (optional)
  8. Take 1 salt -to taste

It's great on its own, as a side, or in a pita! Tabbouleh, which comes from the Arabic word tabil ("to spice"), is not actually an Israeli or Jewish dish, per se. It originated in the Levant, the historic Middle Eastern region that encapsulated a large swath. Drizzle over the lemon juice and olive oil and season, to taste, with salt.

Steps to make Tabbouleh:

  1. Soak bulgur in juice of 1 lemon til absorbed and appearance is dry. Fluff with a fork.
  2. Rinse and chop parsley leaves. If using mint, chop and add to chopped parsley in a large bowl.
  3. Add chopped tomatoes and sliced green onion. Toss and combine. Add juice from remaining lemons.
  4. Add your fluffed bulgur to the parsley mixture as well as the olive oil. Mix til combined, adding salt as needed.

Mix well to coat the ingredients in the liquid. To serve, divide the tabbouleh equally among four serving plates. Tabbouleh is a Middle Eastern dish made of bulgur wheat, finely chopped herbs, and spices. Tabbouleh is often served as an appetizer, a salad, or part of a mezze, the Middle Eastern equivalent. We think of tabbouleh as a bulgur salad with lots of parsley and mint.
